Scott D. Cole, CFP®, AIF®, CDFA® is the founder, principal shareholder and president of Cole Financial Planning and Wealth Management, Inc. A native and lifelong resident of metro Birmingham, Scott received degrees from Samford University, Southwestern Theological Seminary and the University of Alabama.
His work and expertise is widely recognized. Scott has been quoted in publications including the Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, Washington Post, US News and World Report and ABCnews.com. He speaks frequently to organizations, businesses, nonprofits and congregations on a variety of financial issues. For ten years, Scott was the financial expert for WVTM-13, the NBC affiliate in Birmingham, where he offered weekly financial education, tips and personal financial advice.
An adjunct professor in the University of Alabama’s financial planning division of the College of Human Environmental Sciences, he teaches a class entitled “Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits.” In 2006, Scott received the Jack Davis Award for Professional Achievement by the University of Alabama’s College of Human Environmental Sciences.
Scott lives in the Birmingham area with his wife Tracy and his daughters, Emerson Grace and Lily Hawkins. He is an theorectical fisherman, enjoys college sports, and is a big supporter of the U.S. national soccer teams and a long-suffering Aston Villa fan. He has a great love for books and speaking and a weakness for doughnuts and electronic gadgets.
